A man should learn to detect and watch that gleam of light which flashes across his mind from within, more than the lustre of the firmament of bards and sages. Yet he dismisses without notice his thought, because it is his. – Ralph Waldo Emerson
My favorite quote of all time is Alan Kay: ‘In order to predict the future, you have to invent it.’ I am all about inventing the future. Decide what you want the future to be and make it happen. Because you can. Write about your future now. (Author: Cindy Gallop)
Going Toward the Light
So many people are wishing their lives away. 10, 20, 30 years ago they wish they had gone to school or married that certain person or taken that trip or not gotten into credit card debt or not yelled obscenities at a boss and gotten fired or not had the affair that led to the divorce.
Each decision impacted the course of their future. Now they feel they are stuck without choices and means to change their lives, their future. The future, though, begins today with today’s choices. In order to create my own future, I must always go toward the Light, whether they be gleams, flashes or brilliant strobes in the sky, they were placed there by the Creator who gifted me and placed dreams in my heart and gifts in my life. It is my purpose to discover them.
The future I create is one where I am drawing ever closer to the Light checking daily, hourly, minutely for those gleams that flash across my mind and then following audaciously. I like the word audacious meaning extremely original without restriction to prior ideas.
The future I am creating includes one where I love my family more fully by being in the present with them talking and listening to their dreams and desires and encouraging them to pursue them with reckless abandon.
The future I am creating includes one where I do the work of writing every day even on days I feel I have nothing to say. I will do this work and compile what is worthwhile into books that will be helpful to others.
The future I am creating is one dedicated to encouraging others to discern truth and apply in a powerful way. I believe that discerning truth is the same thing as the “aha” moment and when that comes it changes everything. I live for “aha” moments for myself and others.
The future I am creating includes one where I concentrate more on what is working in my life making course corrections as needed to go in that direction. It means setting rules and regulations aside for pursuit of life and relationships.
The future I am creating will point toward what is true, real, meaningful, joyful, peaceful and loving though at the same time fueled with the vigorous impetuosity born of gleams and flashes of that one true Light.
